Five questions for your agent, and the one vehicle type where the answer is most likely to change.
One of the three things we ask for at pickup is proof of your own auto insurance — the policy number and the expiration date. Most renters have it on their phone. What fewer renters have is a clear answer to the real question: what does my policy actually cover while I'm driving a rental?
We're a rental company, not an insurance agency, so we won't tell you what your policy says. But after four decades of handing over keys, we know which questions matter. Here they are.
Cars, SUVs, and minivans are usually straightforward. Large passenger vans are where policies differ most — some personal policies and many credit card rental benefits exclude vehicles over a certain seating capacity. If you're renting our 15-passenger van for a team, church, or reunion, ask your agent about it by name. Churches and organizations often have a separate commercial or non-owned auto policy that's the right fit.
Card rental benefits can be useful, but they're often secondary to your personal policy and frequently exclude large vans and longer rental periods. Read the fine print or call the number on the back of the card.
That's a different path. With insurance replacement rentals, the at-fault carrier or your own rental reimbursement coverage often pays, and we work directly with adjusters and body shops across western Wisconsin. Get your claim number and call us — we'll handle a lot of the back-and-forth. Need it today? See same-day replacement.
License, card, and your insurance card or app showing the policy number and expiration date. That's it — the full list is in our first-timer’s guide. Questions about a specific trip? Call or text 715-396-1466.
Proof of your own auto insurance showing the policy number and expiration date. An insurance card or your insurer's app works.
Many personal policies extend to a rental used for personal driving, but coverage varies. Ask your agent whether collision and comprehensive apply and what your deductible is.
It depends on the policy. Some personal policies and many credit card benefits exclude large passenger vans, so ask your agent about the 15-passenger van specifically before you rent.
Often the at-fault driver's insurer or your own rental reimbursement coverage. We work directly with adjusters and body shops; bring your claim number.
Confirm with your agent, then give us a call — we'll handle the rest.
