The Jackson County Fair comes home to Black River Falls Tuesday, July 28 through Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Jackson County Fair Park on Melrose Street. For six days, it's the biggest thing happening in the county — livestock shows, grandstand events, food stands, carnival rides, and half the county in one place.
We're about five minutes from the fairgrounds, and every year fair week shows up in our reservation book in two ways: groups that need a van, and out-of-town family that needs a car. Here's how to handle both without a last-minute scramble.
4-H clubs hauling kids and project gear, church youth groups making a day of it, extended families coming in from three directions — fair trips are group trips. A convoy of four cars means four parking spots, four sets of keys, and somebody always lost on the way in.
Our 15-passenger van ($135/day + $0.10/mile) puts the whole group in one vehicle with room left over for coolers and lawn chairs. For smaller crews, the 7-passenger minivan ($78/day + $0.10/mile) does the same job at a lower rate — and the sliding doors make loading kids in a gravel lot painless.
Because the fairgrounds are in town, a fair-day van rental barely touches the mileage meter. A full day of hauling your group to and from the fair might run 30–40 miles total — $3 or $4 in mileage on top of the daily rate.
Fair week doubles as reunion week for a lot of Jackson County families. If relatives are flying into La Crosse or Eau Claire, or driving up and leaving a vehicle behind, a rental car solves the "who's picking them up, and how do they get around all week" problem.
